On the 25th of November 2011 in Moscow envelope and postage stamp cancellation solemn ceremony, dedicated to 100 years anniversary of the Russian Olympic Committee, took place.

In the ceremony the President of the Russian Olympic Committee A.D. Zhukov and acting Head of the Federal Agency of Communications A.S. Malyanov took part.

The most important dates in country’s life are always included in the Federal Agency of Communications’ postage stamps issuing plans. The Russian Olympic Committee anniversary is one of such dates.

In his welcome speech Sergey Malyanov pointed out: "Russian philatelic producers have turned to Olympic theme not once already. The first postage stamp of the Russian Federation, issued in 1992, was the stamp, dedicated to the XVII Winter Olympic games in Albertville. This series was continued by issues for winter games in Nagano, Sail-Lake-city, Turin and Vancouver. Today the Federal Agency of Communications is actively participating in Philatelic program for Olympics in Sochi in 2014. And this means, that our cooperative work on support of the Olympic movement in Russia is going on".

On the postage stamp “100 years anniversary of the Russian Olympic Committee” an anniversary logo and sportsmen silhouettes are pictured. The circulation of the stamp is 750 thousand issues.
